Children and Adolescents

Are you tired of yelling at your children?

Do you get nervous when the phone rings, afraid it’s the school calling again?

Does it seem like you’ve tried everything, yet your child remains unmotivated and isn’t living up to his/her potential?

Does your child get teased or bullied?

Are you worried about how your child is adjusting to a divorce or separation?

Do you sometimes feel like a failure as a parent?

Do you ever feel like you just want your loving, happy kid back?

If you answered yes to any of these questions,  I can help!

I typically work with children and adolescents ages 5-18.  I use a combination of talk therapy and creative and play modalities to help develop rapport, promote expression of feelings, as well as to teach and practice coping skills.   The first session will be a joint session with parent and child together in order for me to get an understanding of the issues that brought you to therapy and to gather a thorough history.  For future sessions, I allow the child to decide whether they would like meet individually or if they would like to continue to meet with their parent.  Regardless of whether the parent joins in for the whole session, I always allow time for the parent to get and give updates about progress or concerns.

I help children and adolescents dealing with issues such as :

  • ADHD
  • Anger issues
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Divorce Adjustment
  • Grief and loss
  • LGBTQ issues
  • Oppositional Behaviors
  • Self-esteem
  • Self-harm
  • Social skills
  • Trauma
